Textmonkey by b.ird.town transforms text in your browser. This policy describes how the current app handles information.
Text you enter
Text conversion happens on your device. Textmonkey does not send your entered text or converted output to a server, and does not save it in the app’s persistent storage. The app keeps text in memory while the page is open. Your browser may independently retain or restore page state.
Saved styles
When you save a style, Textmonkey stores its identifier, name, random seed, and chaos level in your browser’s local storage. Your message text is not included. Saved styles remain in that browser for this site until you remove them or clear the site’s data. They are not synced to an account or another device.
Custom styles are also stored only in this browser, including their names, identifiers, and character replacements. Custom-style preview text is not saved. Clearing site data removes custom styles as well as saved random styles. Analytics identifies a custom style only as “custom”; its name and character replacements are not sent.
Clipboard access
Textmonkey reads clipboard text when you choose “Paste from clipboard,” subject to your browser’s permission controls. When you choose “Copy text,” it writes the converted text to your device’s clipboard. If you enable the optional hashtag, the copied text also includes #textmonkey. This does not publish a post or notify Textmonkey that you shared anything. Your operating system may handle clipboard history or syncing according to your device settings.
Cookies, analytics, and advertising
The hosted app uses Google Analytics to understand visits, style choices, style saves, and clipboard success or failure. Analytics collects page and usage information, such as page views, referring websites, browser and device information, and session activity. It uses cookies to distinguish browsers and sessions. App events are named tm_text_copied, tm_copy_failed, tm_style_selected, and tm_style_saved. These events include the selected built-in style category and chaos level; copy events also indicate whether the optional hashtag was selected. Saved styles are identified only as “saved.” Events never include your entered text, converted output, clipboard contents, saved-style identifiers or contents, or error messages. Copy failures refer to the automatic clipboard operation; the app cannot confirm whether you subsequently copy using the manual fallback.
Google receives analytics data. Google Signals and advertising personalization are disabled in the app’s analytics configuration. The app does not display ads. Saved styles continue to use your browser’s local storage. Learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Website hosting
When you visit the hosted website, your browser requests its files from the hosting service. That service may process ordinary request information, such as your IP address, browser information, requested URL, and request time, for delivery and security. Entered text is not part of those requests. Hosting log practices and retention depend on the hosting provider and its configuration.
Your choices
You can remove a saved style using “Remove saved style,” or delete all saved styles by clearing this site’s data in your browser settings. Clipboard permissions and clipboard history are managed through your browser and device settings. You can use browser privacy tools to block Google Analytics; text conversion and copying still work when analytics is blocked.
Changes to this policy
If the app’s information handling changes, this page will be updated with a new revision date.
